(Because every bride deserves to feel incredible in the dress.)
Wedding dress shopping should feel like champagne and happy tears — not fluorescent lighting and sample sizes that don’t zip. When I was first looking for wedding dresses way back in 2020, I was not prepared for the miserable experience that awaited me and other curvier girls.
If you’re a plus-size bride searching for wedding dress shops near Portland, OR that truly get it, I want you to know this: you have options here. Good ones. Portland’s bridal scene has grown in inclusivity over the years, and there are boutiques that genuinely celebrate curves instead of treating extended sizing like an afterthought.
So whether you’re planning a downtown Portland wedding, an Oregon coast elopement, or a vineyard celebration in the Gorge, here are some plus-size friendly bridal shops worth adding to your list, because they are amazing and will treat you like the princess you deserve to be. And f**k those other places that only carry up to bridal size 14 (a street size 10).

Let’s start with one of my local favorites.
Located in SE Portland, Brides for a Cause is a nonprofit bridal boutique where your dress purchase supports women-focused charities. Which means you’re not just finding the dress — you’re giving back in the process. And it’s a green & sustainable option!
Here’s why so many brides love shopping here:
Because inventory is donated and constantly changing, it’s a little bit of a treasure hunt — which honestly can be part of the fun. If you’re open-minded and love the idea of scoring a designer gown for less (while supporting a good cause), this is a must-visit.
Pro tip: Go early in your planning timeline so you have flexibility in alterations.
I will add in a little asterisk here that because Brides for a Cause relies on donated or second-hand gowns, the options for 18+ sizes can be limited (because they get snapped up quick). I would highly recommend going sooner rather than later in your shopping journey.
If you’re dreaming of a boutique experience where a stylist is fully focused on you, a&bé is known for being inclusive and body-positive.
They carry a range of modern, fashion-forward designers and are intentional about stocking sample sizes that real brides can actually try on — not just imagine.
What brides love:
If you want a curated experience and gowns that feel editorial but wearable, this is a beautiful stop on your dress shopping weekend.

Blue Sky Bridal is another Portland favorite with a reputation for warmth and inclusivity. They specialize in off-the-rack designer gowns (many at reduced prices), and brides consistently mention how comfortable and seen they felt during appointments.
Highlights:
If you want something elevated but still approachable, Blue Sky is worth exploring.
(Here’s Amanda looking amazing in her wedding dress from Blue Sky. I was there both times she went, and I was SO impressed by the staff and the selections.)

For brides wanting that classic bridal boutique feel with extended size ordering options, True Society offers a broad selection of designers and personalized styling appointments.
Many of their designers offer gowns in extended sizing (often up to 30+ depending on the style), which makes them a strong option if you’ve fallen in love with a specific designer look.

At Charlotte’s, plus-size brides aren’t an afterthought — they’re a priority. This beloved Portland bridal shop has been helping brides “say yes” for over 30 years, and one of the reasons it stands out is its extensive plus-size selection. With gowns available up to size 38 and knowledgeable stylists who genuinely want you to feel confident and beautiful, this is a place many local brides return to in their search for The Dress.
Here’s what makes Charlotte’s special:
Whether you want classic elegance, boho romance, or something uniquely you, Charlotte’s is a must-visit stop on your bridal journey. They ask you for your preferences, budget, and what is truly important to you, and then bring you a selection of gowns that is exactly what you are looking for– in your size.

Here’s the honest truth: bridal sizing is wildly different from street sizing. I am ready to start a fight with all of the dress designers. A bridal size 16 and 22 can be the same size from different designers. A number on the tag means nothing. Truly.
A few things that help:

Dress shopping is such a meaningful part of your wedding season. It’s the moment things start to feel real — when you can finally picture yourself walking down the aisle.
And when you find the one? The gown that makes you stand taller, breathe deeper, and maybe tear up just a little?
I would be so honored to photograph you in it.
If you’re planning your wedding in Portland, the Columbia River Gorge, the Oregon Coast, or anywhere in the PNW, I’d love to connect and hear about your vision. Whether your day is elegant and timeless, wildly romantic, or beautifully untraditional — you deserve photos that celebrate you exactly as you are.
